This is a post I have been meaning to publish for a while. I want to give you a look into our kitchen renovation, cost estimates (it’s been 3 years so don’t have all the exact numbers still) and source list. A little backstory: we purchased our home in March of 2017. It was a foreclosure and in need of a complete renovation in every room. One of the first ones we tackled was the kitchen and let me tell you it was all worth it. We did all of the work ourselves and had some trial and error moments but all in all it was a success. When we bought our house I envisioned we would renovate and live here only for a few years and then move on to more of a dream home. I saw this as an investment and did not want to over or under spend. I wanted to walk the line of appealing to most but also something I would love. I kept some things safe and neutral such as the paint color and appliances but added my personality with the blue island, marble backsplash, DIY roman shade and upgraded lighting.
I’ll give you a look at the before photos first:
The cabinets had major water damage and mold and needed to go. Everything really needed to go. Which is exactly what we did. We ripped everything out including this weird pony wall separating the kitchen and dining room.
I will show you the after photos and then go into more detail about the updates, sources and costs.
My goal was a classic, open, airy, happy kitchen and I think it is just that. I wanted a classic white kitchen but with a lovely blue island and mixed metals for an updated look. I absolutely love the look of mixed metals and think it gives a curated and custom feel to any space.
We ordered cabinets from cabinets.com and opted for the ones we could assemble to save money. All in all we ended up around $3200. I will say I think they look nice and do their job but for my next kitchen this is something I would upgrade. We picked a quartz countertop that had faint veining to appear like marble and found a special at a local vendor that came to about $2500. I picked this diamond mosaic real marble backsplash from the tile shop. This is one of my very favorite elements of the kitchen and one I highly recommend! I get so many compliments and its such a subtle statement. This was around $800. Our appliances were a bundle deal from Lowes.com and came to around $3500. The stainless steel farmhouse sink is from wayfair and I have it linked here. The touch less faucet is from Lowes and I have it linked here. Our hardware is a brushed brass and we used a cup pull on the drawers and a knob on the cabinets. Both linked here from Home Depot. Our bar stools are also from wayfair and I will link them here.
I think that covers the major items, if you see something else you like and want a source or cost estimate feel free to reach out and ask!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and explore my blog- it means so much to me!
